Location:
Herceghalom, Hungary

The University of Debrecen organized a specific training course for all TTOs in Hungary. The main objective was to gain insight into the operation of technology transfer offices that already have some experience and have managed several technology commercialization procedures. The course took the form of an interactive 2-day-seminar: around 30 technology transfer managers participated from Hungarian TTOs.
The main principle was to overview the operation and management of a successful technology transfer office. The organizers felt that such a course would be useful especially because Hungarian TTOs are relatively young and there are only a limited number of dedicated courses available to them. Through German and American examples presented by prominent experts in the field, all important aspects of technology transfer were discussed. The aim was to see good practices and understand the keys elements to success. Not only good practices, but also difficulties and potential threats were discussed.

The topics discussed during the course included:

  • Setting up a TTO,
  • The invention disclosure process,
  • Intellectual property rights,
  • Intellectual property protection strategies,
  • Licensing, commercial activities and marketing,
  • Business development,
  • Financial resources,
  • Start-ups and spin-offs, etc.
