To reduce the environmental impact of poultry

Waste disposal of agro-industry, and particularly of poultry manure, is a largely unsolved problem that caused emergency situations.

The decomposition of manure is a biological process that takes place spontaneously in nature, but is expressed in a very long time. In addition, the demand for organic fertilizer is growing.

This study analyzes a possible intervention to reduce the environmental impact of poultry, reusing the manure as a soil improver or fertilizer, which would bring considerable advantages:

- It would be possible to use waste materials that are harmful to the environment and expensive to dispose of.

- Returning organic matter to the soil provides a return of medium/long-term fertility that cannot be obtained in any other way.

- The contents of nutrients (N, P, K) present in compost determines a saving of chemical fertilizers and then considerable energy.
