"Transnational concepts for combating the climate change" will be discussed on 27 October 2010 at Euregia 2010 Leipzig (Germany) held between 25 - 27 October 2010.

Climate change a key word with an increasing importance in the last year. To combat this phenomenon the EU has set itself strict goals which have to be achieved until 2020: to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent, increase energy efficiency by 20 percent and increase the use of renewable energies up to 20 percent. The main role for the accomplishment of these targets will be fulfilled by the regions in Europe. It is up to them to make EU’s environmental policy a success story.

Transnational programmes co-funded by the European Union bring the regions together to make them stronger and exchange experience and good practiced on how to combat climate change.

During the workshop at the Euregia 2010 the CENTRAL EUROPE Programme, together with experts and partners involved in projects looking for environmental solutions trough transnational cooperation will debate two major issues:

  • How can the energy efficiency and use of renewable energy be better promoted and help to combat the climate change?
  • What can cooperation projects do in order to enhance the water resources management and help the risk prevention?

In addition an internal workshop for approved projects wihitn Priority Environment is envisaged. The CE Programme and some of its running projects shall be also part of the exhibition area during the event.
